May I suggest Self Rising flour and shortening instead of oil? Give it a try and see what you think. The tortillas come out fluffier and are less likely to harden up. They stay softer longer. On the other hand, I never met a tortilla that I didn’t like!

Have never thought to make flour tortillas on my own, but wow, they look so much better than what you can buy in the grocery store. Will have to try them!

When you roll them out, roll from the middle and toward the edge. That will make you a nice, uniform shape. Also, I cheat and use self-rising flour which gives me an even fluffier tortilla and allows me to just add the shortening. ( I don’t use oil in mine.) So glad you posted this recipe. Handy skill to have, tortilla-making!
