Small Closet Organization Hacks
#1: Donate Unwanted Items
The very first step to getting more organized is to get rid of anything you don’t need or want anymore! This sounds simple in theory, but think of it like this: what good is it to go to all the work organizing stuff you don’t even need?
Besides, you can always donate stuff you don’t need rather than throwing it out, too.
#2: Give Your Closet a Deep Clean
So now that you’ve donated unwanted items, it can be really helpful to spend 10 or 15 minutes cleaning out your closet when it’s empty. Sweep or vacuum out the floor and dust off the shelves while you can, because this is the perfect opportunity to do so!
#3: Add Shelves for More Storage
Do you need more space to store clothes, and bins of personal items, or even display photos or memorabilia? Simply add more shelves!
Simple problems require simple solutions. 🙂
#4: Get a Shoe Rack to Free up the Floor
Tired of bending down and trying to find the right pair of shoes, just before heading out to work? Why not keep your shoes neat and organized on a shoe rack?! I can’t begin to describe how much of a life saver shoes racks are. They make shoes so much more accessible, save space, and are all around awesome.
#5: Add Drawers
One of the best small closet organization ideas is to add drawers. Adding drawers can be an excellent way to make more space for socks, pants, etc. Besides that, pull out drawers are nice because you won’t have to reach far back.
#6: Organize Clothes by Color
If you’re wondering how to arrange clothes in shelf, organizing by color can make it easy to find the right clothes in the morning when you’re getting ready.
#7: Organize by Season
This is pretty self explanatory. Rotate seasonal clothes to save save space, and put the ones you’re not using into storage in bins. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to have winter coats hanging in the middle of summer!
#8: Get Baskets or Bins for More Storage.
Speaking of bins, using baskets or bins for storage is an excellent way to store trinkets, and whatnot. Get several bins, and you can stack them high!
#9: Hang Delicate Clothes, or Clothes that Wrinkle Easily.
Got shirts that wrinkle easily, or are very delicate? Better to hang those, rather than folding them. Otherwise, you’ll be doing a whole lot of unnecessary ironing!
#10: Stack Sweatshirts and Jeans.
Sweatshirts can take up so much space on a hanger, and the same is true about keeping jeans in dresser drawers. Why not stack your sweatshirts and jeans on high closet shelves?
